Ubisoft Brings I Am Alive Development In-House

The publisher's more realistic take on surviving a disaster is now in the hands of Ubisoft Shanghai, having been pulled from Darkworks.

Ubisoft's disaster/survival game I Am Alive is no longer being developed by Darkworks. The French publisher today announced that it's taking the project in-house and assigning development duties to its Shanghai studio.
"In order to respect the new launch date for this ambitious title, and Darkworks having other obligations, we have mutually decided to complete development of I Am Alive at Ubisoft Shanghai, as the two studios have collaborated on aspects of the title over the past year," the company explained.
The game was announced at last year's E3 and had been expected to release this spring; however, Ubisoft recently pushed the title back into its next fiscal year, which ends in March 2010.
Ubisoft recently reported a 13 percent sales increase for its holiday quarter. Although Ubisoft has been performing well on the market, the publisher is striving to maintain the highest quality. CEO Yves Guillemot said regarding the holiday quarter that some of the publisher's titles "did not meet the required quality levels to achieve their full potential."
